Arts Mission

The mission of Southwood Academy of the Arts is to provide a nurturing and challenging learning environment that empowers artist-scholars to reach their full artistic and academic potential.

Arts Vision

The vision of Southwood Academy of the Arts is to prepare students for lifelong involvement in artistic and academic pursuits.

Arts Goals

• To develop a comprehensive fine arts program through an aligned and sequential curriculum.
• To raise awareness of the benefits of an arts school to its students and community.
• To implement quality arts best practice professional development for all staff members.
• To create well-equipped school facilities to deliver the arts curriculum and standards to serve the students and serve the community.

Points of Pride

• Finalist for Palmetto Finest Awards
• Excellent annual school report card and was ranked 10th in the state out of 308 middle schools.
• Southwood students selected annually to participate in the SCGSAH Summer Residential program.
• Distinguished Arts Program and ABC Advancement Grant Recipient
