ABC Institute supports standards-based, arts-rich education and promotes the inclusion of the arts as a core component of the basic curriculum. Arts-rich education includes arts (dance, media, music, theatre, visual arts, and creative writing) education, arts integrated learning in any classroom, and professional arts experiences (i.e., teaching artist residencies, field trips, and apprenticeship programs).
In support of our mission, ABC Institute assists in developing new and sharing existing strategies, resources, and curricula to support standards-based, arts-rich education. To ensure equitable access, ABC Institute relies on several Partners in Practice to provide curriculum support.
At One Stop Workshop, our virtual platform offers a “one-stop” source for professional learning on arts in education, offering content for both educators interested in arts integration as well as discipline-specific arts specialists. There is something for every educator at One Stop Workshop including administrators and ABC Certified School educators. Attend sessions, visit exhibitor booths, and discover resources and opportunities!

ABC’s partnership with South Carolina ETV and South Carolina’s Department of Education stems from this singular belief: ALL students in South Carolina deserve a quality arts education. With this goal firmly fixed, ABC strengthens the educational leadership within the community by providing easy access to valuable resources. We understand quality arts education begins with empowering our educators.
For over three decades, ABC Institute has worked with schools and districts across the state to invest resources in teacher professionalism to design and create standards-based, quality arts and arts-integrated lessons. As a part of this investment and mission, ABC Institute has aimed to collect and publish exemplary lessons that can be shared across the state. Through our partnerships with SCETV “KnowItAll,” and SCDE “Instruction Hub”, lesson plans are submitted through ABC School Certification application process. We rely on the generosity of great teachers sharing great lessons.
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has invested in Instruction Hub (iHub), a “Learning Object Repository (LOR) platform… to provide more resources for lesson planning, student learning, exemplary teaching strategies, and professional opportunities across our state.”
Learn MoreKnowItAll features a wide assortment of over 10,000 media assets and lessons, created by South Carolina ETV with a variety of partners for preK-12.
