Arts Mission
To provide every child with a substantive, comprehensive and sequential education in the arts, to use the arts to create deeper meaning in other content areas, and to support 21st Century learning skills included in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
Arts Vision
The arts integration focus at Pine Street School will exhibit our diversity and creativity in which children can learn in a variety of modalities while designing, creating, and implementing the South Carolina College and Career Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency.
Arts Goals
- To promote innovative development & implementation of appropriate curricula, instruction & assessment to serve as the foundation to support quality arts instruction & growth of dance, music, theater, visual arts, media arts & design.
- To develop & grow innovative arts opportunities for students in & beyond the classroom.
- To secure proper facilities & equipment for a quality arts education program.
- To connect with school, local and statewide Communities.
Points of Pride
- Named an Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Site in 1990, by the South Carolina Arts Commission, Pine Street is a model for other schools in the state.
- Pine Street has been a Distinguished Arts Program grant recipient since inception.
- All students in 4K-5th grade benefit from the Artist in Residence Program.
- Pine Street School is on the National Register of Historic Places.
- Pine Street is proud to be a recipient of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts National Schools of Distinction in Arts Education Award.
