Arts Mission
The mission of the Palmetto Center for the Arts is to challenge artistically gifted and talented students to develop their creative and academic potential through a rigorous, comprehensive integrated and standards-based curriculum that prepares students for advanced study and careers in the arts.
Arts Vision
The students of the Palmetto Center for the Arts and Richland Northeast High School are recognized for outstanding achievement in the arts and are accepted into top-level universities, colleges, conservatories, and schools of their choice.
Arts Goals
- To improve student achievement in the arts through curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- To provide appropriate space, equipment, materials, technology and resources necessary to support the curriculum in all art areas.
- To provide appropriate faculty as needed to implement the curriculum and/or administrate the magnet program.
- To increase the number of applicants and those accepted into PCA.
- To improve student achievement, redesign Technical Theatre track to Entertainment Stage Technology (EST).
- To improve student achievement in the arts and deepen understanding of arts content and standards through vertical articulation agreements with feeder schools.
Points of Pride
- The Palmetto Center for the Arts is the District High School Fine Arts Magnet for Richland School District Two.
- PCA is a nationally recognized program and the recipient of the John F. Kennedy Center Creative Ticket award for outstanding achievement in arts education.
- Our students are able to work with professionals in their art form and receive free private instruction from guest artists/chamber coaching.
- Our students have numerous field study experiences.
- Students participate in a full season of productions, performances, recitals, and exhibitions. Students attend and receive scholarships at Youth America Grand Prix.
