Arts Mission

The NEMS Arts Education Mission is to provide students with intellectually informed, hands-on learning experiences that promote curiosity, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and life-long expression in an inclusive and diverse environment.

Arts Vision

Our vision for the arts is to…

• Develop a more diverse music program.
• Provide a theatre and dance program.
• Expand the visual arts program to reach more students.
• Add a spring musical which will incorporate music, dance, and theatre, as well as visual and digital art.
• Allow students to express their creativity in new and exciting ways through a variety of artist residencies.

Arts Goals

• Provide opportunities for students to participate in a standards-based band program, theatre program, chorus program, dance program, and media arts program.
• Provide varied opportunities for students to participate in standards-based visual arts program.

Points of Pride

• STEAM Magnet School
• Art I as a high school credit course for 8th grade students
• Artists in residencies in dance, visual arts, drama, and chorus
• Opportunities for students to compete in local, regional, & state competitions in band and visual arts, drama productions, Joye in Aiken Concert & Master Class sessions
• Fine arts enrichment field trips
• Jazz Band class
• Digital Arts class
