Lower Richland High

District: Richland 1  /  Site Since 2015

LRHS is a diverse school with a supportive culture that offers a wide range of opportunities for students. Among these are a robust course list for the visual and performing arts with many opportunities to engage in creative writing throughout the curriculum. The school is an important part of the community. Students get opportunities to practice leadership and build character and responsibility as they engage in projects in the community, hosting and attending area events, performances, meetings, social media and journalism projects, and community service. We are also a proud community school filled with raw talent and students who excel at competitions. We offer many programs, but we try to find commonalities between them so they can all work together for the growth of the entire school. We offer cosmetology, health science, and fire fighter training within our Career and Technology Education department, preparing students to become certified in an area of study. The school has two art teachers and is one of only two schools to teach photography in the area. We are an A.B.C, IB Diploma, IB Career, an IB Middle Years Program School, and mostly received S.T.E.M. accredited under Cognia. In addition to a principal, we have five assistant principals. Our special education department includes 161 students from grades 9-12 with the majority of students being in the 9th grade. Lastly, we offer a variety of gifted and talented courses which include over 38 different classes with 888 or more students participating.
