Mission & Vision
To provide a standards based and academically rigorous educational environment in which students can explore, discover, express, create, and succeed through the arts. To provide comprehensive, standards based education in the arts as a core, academic subject. To cultivate an appreciation for and understanding of excellence in the arts through rigorous, academic practice, community based learning experiences, and student driven exploration, production, and performance. We strive to maintain and enhance professional practices of a high caliber in the arts classrooms and through arts integration. To establish and maintain an arts program that is effective and recognized within the community, state, and nation.
Arts Goals
- To Increase student achievement by providing a comprehensive, standards based, sequential curriculum in the visual and performing arts for all students through instruction and assessment.
- To provide and improve facilities that increase the effectiveness of visual and performing arts learning in the classroom.
- To advocate for arts education within the school and the learning community at large.
Points of Pride
- AJHS offers a total of 7 visual and performing arts courses at a rigorous level which include dance, band, drama, piano, visual art, chorus, and creative
writing with CP, AP, and Honors levels. Students often take multiple art disciplines, therefore gaining a well rounded arts education. - We showcase student talent in several ways such as community outreach programs, end of semester concerts, and collaborative musicals.
- Our competitive programs often earn high (superior and excellent) ratings at state and national events.
