Peace Center One for Elementary and Middle School Teachers: “Arts Integration Across the Curriculum”

Designed for elementary and middle school educators, participants will engage in hands-on, arts integrated activity that connects thematically to The Lion King, showing teachers how arts-integrated classroom activities can also connect to art viewing experiences.  A ticket to see The Lion King will be included in the participant registration.  The institute lessons will address the following arts integration concepts: exploring world cultures through music and mask making, building comprehension through rhythm and sound, connections between music and poetry, poetry off the page, and deeper meaning through monologues.   Institute engages the following workshop leaders: Kennedy Center Teaching Artists Barbara Ellman, Imani Gonzalez, and Glenis Redmond

Pre-Peace Center Institute: on-line meeting: pre-institute reading will be distributed May 1, 2017 for on-line discussion via Edmodo to begin immediately following

Post-Peace Center Institute on-line meeting: Final project to be completed and submitted by June 23, 2017
