Mission & Vision
To motivate, empower, and support students to accomplish individual goals within a challenging arts- integrated curriculum in order to develop successful citizens in a diverse community. The vision of Nursery Road Elementary School-Arts Magnet is to increase student engagement and achievement by integrating Media, Visual, and Performing Arts into the curriculum in order to prepare students to become creative, self-motivated, and productive citizens.
Arts Goals
- Deliver a quality, comprehensive sequential arts program based on the 2017 SCCC Standards for VPA that expands opportunities for students through innovative curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Provide quality facilities throughout the school to support an arts-integrated/arts-infused curriculum that impacts all students and faculty.
- Provide professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators to support the delivery of a quality, comprehensive, sequential visual and performing arts program.
- Establish opportunities for stakeholders to advocate for the continuation, expansion, and sustainability of Nursery Road’s visual and performing arts program.
Points of Pride
- The way the arts provide a voice for each and every student at NRES – AM in whatever capacity or subject they are engaged in is a huge point of pride for us. Whether it lives in an engaging arts integrated lesson, on stage during the Winter Show, participating in an Academic Arts music class, performing a dance routine for our community, building a flat as a carpenter in the opera, or creating a piece of pottery that will be glazed and fired, it remains the same…every child is able to find their own beautiful voice.
