Kids Music Day This Friday

Richland School District Two has partnered with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra and Rice Music to bring National Kids Music Day to our students. This is the first time the district has participated in this annual celebration of music.

L.W. Conder Arts Integrated Magnet, the district’s only elementary fine arts magnet, will host the event on Friday, October 4 from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Conder is located at 8040 Hunt Club Road in Columbia.

Students will choose from a variety of music activities including writing their songs, using Makey Makey technology to create music through coding, exploring Drum Circles and percussion from around the world, participating in an interactive session with members of the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra, learning basic piano pedagogy with Rice Music House, and more!

Kids Music Day was founded by Keep Music Alive with its purpose to bring community, family, and schools together to help focus attention on the importance of including music as part of children’s education. Visit Kidsmusicday.org for more information about Kids Music day.
