This institute promotes inquiry-based learning for any classroom and uses the 2017 South Carolina College and Career Ready for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency in its instruction. The course will stimulate creativity, curiosity, reflection, and innovative thought. The course provides hands-on challenges and activities, instruction in multiple intelligences, and guidance in using the arts across the curriculum. Participants will have daily STEAM/design challenges working both individually and in teams to solve a particular problem. In addition to classroom instruction hours, this institute includes a field trip to Milliken & Company, a company that focuses on innovation and science, design , technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
