Mission & Vision
The mission of the Chester Park Elementary School of the Arts is to engage every child in active individual and collaborative team learning experiences in the context of a comprehensive standards-based arts integrated curriculum. We believe that arts education: Builds character, cooperation, responsibility, self-esteem, and respect; Enriches and integrates subject areas; Identifies and nurtures each individual student’s talents and creativity; Unites students, parents, faculty, and community members; Provides an exciting, caring, and inviting environment for learning.
Arts Goals
- Student achievement in the arts will significantly improve through curriculum, instruction, and assessment based on the 2017 SC College- and Career-Ready Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency Standards.
- Arts specialists and classroom teachers will improve their professional skills and knowledge to more effectively implement standards-based lessons in arts and academic classes.
- Stakeholders will advocate for the arts and arts integration as essential components of a well balanced curriculum.

District Arts Showcase: Students participate in district arts showcases, using performance and visual art to demonstrate learning and strengthen school–community connections.

Upper-Grade Arts Specialization: Students in grades 3–5 receive specialized instruction in strings, chorus, dance, and visual art, integrating academic standards with artistic development.

Arts Advocacy & State Support: Arts-focused advocacy has increased state-level visibility and support, including engagement with Senator Stubbs and an on-site visit recognizing the school’s programs.

Arts-Driven Student Achievement: Through arts integration, Chester Park Elementary School of the Arts improved its School Report Card rating from ATSS to Average, successfully exiting the ATSS list.
