The mission of Southwood Academy of the Arts is to provide a nurturing and challenging learning environment that empowers artist-scholars to reach their full artistic and academic potential. The vision of Southwood Academy of the Arts is to prepare students for lifelong involvement in artistic and academic pursuits.

- To develop a comprehensive fine arts program through an aligned and sequential curriculum.
- To raise awareness of the benefits of an arts school to its students and community.
- To implement quality arts best practice professional development for all staff members.
- To create well-equipped school facilities to deliver the arts curriculum and standards to serve the students and serve the community.
