The designer has been teaching art for 23 years. She is currently teaching grades 3-5. Along with her teaching duties she is the AIE coordinator and assists with the Kennedy Center Partnership for Lexington School District Three.
This lesson incorporates the understanding of lines, contrast, intaglio printmaking, and a famous South Carolina Artist-Elizabeth O’Neill Verner. This unit is at the beginning of my long range plans because emphasis is place on drawing which is the foundation for all future projects.
Students will receive a brief introduction and a discussion of prints created by a Charleston Artist, Elizabeth O’Neill Verner. Discussion will involve lines, contrast, production, and the purpose behind the art work she created. Students will produce an intaglio print using the buildings and places in their own town.
