Pleasant Hill Middle

Pleasant Hill Middle School is an arts centered suburban school in Lexington School District One that serves students in grades six through eight. Pleasant Hill is proud to have been the first school in their district to receive an Arts in the Basic Curriculum Advancement Grant through the South Carolina Arts Commission Arts in Education Program.

The school population is consistently growing with a current enrollment of over 1,100 students and around 19% of students receive free or reduced price meals. At Pleasant Hill Middle School, five art forms are incorporated in daily instruction through standards-based curriculum in art, creative writing, dance, drama, and music.

Students also benefit from learning experiences with artists in residence through various fine arts courses. The mission of the PHMS Fine Arts Department is to make the arts accessible to all students and provide them with opportunities to pursue excellence in the arts through self-discipline, perseverance, responsibility and determination.
